Illinois State Board of Education in Springfield or Chicago is seeking a Communications Specialist/Event Coordinator (Educator Recognition) to plan and execute awards programs recognizing Illinois educators, including the Teacher of the Year and Those Who Excel awards.

Reporting to the Press Secretary/Supervisor, the role combines communications duties—drafting talking points, press releases, newsletters, social media content—and hands-on event management, vendor coordination, and budget

Qualifications

Two years of large-scale event planning experience.
Knowledge of event planning best practices.
Project management and stakeholder coordination.
Awards management software knowledge.
Strong written and verbal communications.
Content creation for digital/print and social media.
Spreadsheet and database proficiency.

Responsabilités

Provide Communications and PR support, including talking points, press releases, newsletters, web content, and social media.
Develop strategies to promote agency programs and events.
Plan and execute the Teacher of the Year & Those Who Excel banquet.
Manage vendors, volunteers, and event staffing.
Coordinate nominations and applications for awards.
Support budgeting and procurement processes.
Travel as needed for events.
