Job summary

New York State Office of Mental Health seeks a Teacher at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center to provide educational instruction to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply, with responsibilities spanning elementary to special subjects and annual education planning.

Qualifications

• Current NYSED initial certification for classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
• Current NYSED permanent/professional certification for classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
• Two years of post-certification teaching experience in the same specialty for Teacher 4 eligibility.
• Reachable on a current Teacher eligible list for competitive class appointment.
• One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1.

Responsibilities

• Prepare course and unit outlines, lesson plans, and individual education plans.
• Evaluate and document individuals' performance and progress.
• Collaborate with treatment team to work toward treatment goals and objectives.
