Job summary

Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, AZ is seeking an Educator Clinical - Surgery & Procedures to join our full-time team. The RN educator will support onboarding and training of RN staff and Patient Care Techs, including new graduates, with a focus in Surgical and Procedural services (OR, Cath Lab, GI, PreOP PACU).

This role designs and evaluates educational programs, partners with leadership and interdisciplinary teams, and provides hands-on training, simulations, and competency assessments.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience required.
• 1-2 years of education, training, or professional development in healthcare preferred.
• RN licensure and Basic Life Support certification required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with peers, staff, physicians, and leadership to assess training needs.
• Plans, develops, and delivers orientation for new hires.
• Maintains records of training, certifications, and compliance.
• Provides hands-on training, classroom instruction, and simulations.
• Keeps current with clinical education standards and best practices.
• Acts as a mentor and leader in the clinical education team.
• Evaluates program effectiveness through feedback and assessments.
• Supports clinical rotation programs for students as assigned.
• Performs other duties and ensures regular attendance.

Job Description

The Full Time Clinical Educator RN working at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson AZ is scheduled Mon- Friday.
This role is an exciting opportunity to support onboarding and training of RN staff and Patient Care Tech, including New Graduates.

The focus for this role will be in the Surgical and Procedural departments like the OR, Cath Lab, GI lab and PreOP PACU and may require back up support for Medsurg departments. Occasionally travels to other local Northwest Healthcare hospital campuses as needed.

Job Summary

The Clinical Educator designs, implements, and evaluates educational programs and professional development initiatives for nursing and clinical staff to enhance patient care quality and outcomes. This role collaborates with leadership, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to assess learning needs, promote evidence-based practices, and foster continuous professional growth. Serving as a mentor and resource for clinical staff, the Clinical Educator ensures alignment of training programs with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and the latest healthcare trends.

Essential Functions

• Collaborates with peers, staff, physicians, and administration to assess training needs and deliver learner-focused educational experiences.
• Plans, develops, and delivers orientation programs for new hires, ensuring smooth onboarding and integration into clinical roles.
• Maintains accurate records of clinical training, certifications, and compliance documentation, ensuring accessibility as needed.
• Provides hands-on training, classroom instruction, and simulation-based learning to build clinical competencies and enhance staff proficiency.
• Stays current with clinical practices and trends in healthcare education, integrating the latest evidence-based standards into training programs.
• Demonstrates leadership skills that foster teamwork and promote a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience required
• 1-2 years of experience in education, training, or professional development in a healthcare setting preferred
