Job summary

Sheppard Pratt School and Residential Treatment Center in Towson, MD, seeks a paraprofessional educator for a Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm in-person schedule on our historic campus. You will support students’ treatment goals and work with teachers to implement ITP/IEP plans in a therapeutic educational setting.

The role emphasizes behavior support, modeling appropriate conduct, and helping students transition between residential and school contexts, with strong training and tuition reimbursement

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet driving requirements: 18+, 2+ years driving, valid license, 2 points or less in 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Providing additional structure to students in alignment with their ITP and IEP.
  • Supporting the teacher as a paraprofessional educator by providing behavior intervention and educational support.
  • Serving as a role model for students by encouraging and reinforcing appropriate behavior.
  • Assisting residential staff in developing and reinforcing student’s independent living skills and facilitating a proper transition from residential to school.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm | Job Location Type: In Person

Located on our historic campus in Towson, Maryland, Sheppard Pratt School and Residential Treatment Center (RTC) is a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) approved, level V nonpublic school. We offer a year-round therapeutic educational and residential program catering to youths ages 12-18 with emotional and behavioral challenges. Our comprehensive program offers structured community and recreational activities alongside full-day special and general education schooling.

What to expect.

You will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of therapeutic strategies, working closely with students to support their treatment goals.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Providing additional structure to students in alignment with their Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP) and Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Supporting the teacher as a paraprofessional educator by providing behavior intervention and treatment and educational support.
  • Serving as a role model for students by encouraging and reinforcing appropriate behavior.
  • Assisting residential staff in developing and reinforcing student’s independent living skills and facilitating an effective transition from residential unit to school setting.

The pay range for this position is $18.50/hr minimum - $22.95/hr maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.

What we need from you.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must meet Sheppard Pratt’s requirements to operate a company vehicle:
    • Be 18 years old with at least 2 years of driving experience.
    • Have a valid driver’s license.
    • Driving record with 2 points or less for the 3 most recent years of driving history.
