Job summary

Air Combat Command at Nellis Air Force Base seeks an Education and Training Technician to provide developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC).

The role includes supervising a classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years, designing activity plans, addressing daily needs, and supporting children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in a structured military environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes.
  • Knowledge of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs, and operations.
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans.
  • Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, and proper management of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the CDC.
  • Perform basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years.
  • Design, implement, and review activity plans to stimulate and sustain children's interest and contribute to development.
  • Attend to physical needs of children including diapering, feeding, toileting, resting, etc.
  • Help children develop self-help skills.

Job description

The primary purpose of this position is: To provide appropriate, specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC). In addition, performs basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-1702-05: Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience for GS-1702-05 level positions includes providing specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC). Performs basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years. Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans to include using own initiative to design and implement a variety of activity plans to stimulate and sustain the interest of children and to contribute to their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, attends to the physical needs of children such as diapering, feeding, toileting, resting, etc., helps children to develop self help skills.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-04 grade/level position or equivalent in the federal service. OR Education: I have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience as described above may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
