Summary
This temporary seasonal position works as an educational technician in Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP of the National Park Service (NPS). The purpose of this position is to work with schools, educators, and students to develop curriculum-based educational programs for the park.

Duties
This position involves working with schools, educators, and students to develop curriculum-based educational programs. Duties include:

• Developing and presenting in-park and offsite environmental and curriculum-based education programs for kindergarten through high school students, following established themes, learning objectives, curriculum requirements, and guidelines, using appropriate teaching methods.
• Creating learning activities that promote critical thinking and problem solving, connecting students with park resources.
• Conducting basic research, assisting in writing, reviewing, and evaluating educational program objectives, lesson plans, and resources.
• Engaging with park visitors through informal roving assignments and at visitor centers, responding to questions, emergencies, or other needs via phone, email, or in person.

Position Location: Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park, managed in partnership with key organizations, located in Middletown, Virginia, within the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District. The area offers various amenities, with nearby towns including Winchester, Harrisonburg, Washington, DC, and Charlottesville.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Appointment subject to background check and favorable adjudication.
• Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements for males.
• Participation in Direct Deposit required.
• May need to operate government or private vehicles; valid driver’s license and driving records required.
• Government housing is not provided.
• Uniforms are required; a uniform allowance is provided.
• Work schedule may include on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and shift work.
• May require training and a government charge card.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old, or 16 with specific educational or enrollment status.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by 07/15/2025. Experience must be clearly detailed in your resume, including duties, dates, and hours worked. To qualify at GS-07 level, you must meet one of the following:

• At least one year of specialized experience at GS-05 level, involving planning and delivering educational programs, research, and resource development, with hours per week specified.
• Successful completion of 18 semester hours of graduate education related to the position, with transcripts.
• A combination of education and experience, with appropriate documentation.

Volunteer experience is also considered and should be included.

Education: Submit transcripts showing coursework, credit hours, and GPA or class rank. Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.

Additional Information: First-time federal appointees are entitled to the lowest step of the grade. The announcement may be used to fill additional positions within 90 days. Non-competitive rehire eligibility is limited by hours worked and previous employment. Employment may be terminated at any time due to various factors.

Physical Demands: Vary from sedentary to strenuous; requires good health, ability to walk on uneven terrain, and carry moderate loads.
