Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass EIPA with minimum score 4.0 and EIPA written test.
• Or RID certification with EIPA written test passed.

Responsibilities

• Interpret lectures, discussions, tests, films, and student comments in school settings.
• Interpret communications between hearing, deaf and hard of hearing students, parents and staff in classroom, conferences, IEPs.
• Assist certificated and classified staff to implement programs for students with hearing impairments.
• Work with teachers to develop language, articulation and academic skills at school and home.
• Attend staff meetings, inservice programs, and workshops.

Job description

Reporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Educational Interpreter for the Deaf facilitates communication and assists teachers in the classroom. The Educational Interpreter for the Deaf works independently to provide services to students with hearing impairments within the school and home environment.
