Job summary

Deming Public Schools Exceptional Student Services in Deming, New Mexico seeks an Educational Diagnostician to implement the special education evaluation process and determine appropriate programs for students with disabilities.

The position requires a Master’s Degree in Educational Diagnosis or related field, NM licensure in Special Education or Guidance & Counseling, and at least two years of experience with exceptional children. Starting date is immediate.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Educational Diagnosis or related fields (e.g., Special Education Guidance & Counseling, Educational Psychology, Speech Pathology).
• Two (2) years of teaching or equivalent experience with exceptional children as evaluated by the State Department of Education.
• Licensure in Special Education or Guidance & Counseling; current Educational Diagnostician license issued by the NM State Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Implement the special education evaluation process within federal/state timelines.
• Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations and prepare clear evaluation reports.
• Collaborate with EDT, IEP teams, and related service providers to determine appropriate placement and supports.
• Coordinate triennial reevaluations, transition planning, and compliance with IDEA and state regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies and procedures.
