Job description

Educational Diagnostician at both ASE East and West Campuses (based on student workload)

Purpose

To provide expertise on learning disabilities, teaching methods, and academic testing requirements. To diagnose learning delays and find strategies to customize educational plans for students, monitoring the students' progress to see if the plan is working, and finding relevant accommodations such as extra time on standardized tests allowed under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide thorough assessments, interventions, and monitoring of students struggling in school, with input from teachers, parents, students, and medical professionals.
• Perform formal assessments, such as written, oral, and hands‑on problem‑solving tests, with students who are struggling.
• Observe students in class to see their work style, behavior patterns, and reactions to teachers and other students.
• Present findings in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings, sharing findings and plans for students with teachers, school administrators, and parents.
• Provide special education services if other specialists are not available, such as speech and language services and other adapted educational methods.
• Support the school's Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, exemplifying the ASE core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Empathy (RISE).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree program approved by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council or the Council for the Accreditation of Educators Preparation.
• Master's degree in Special Education or Special Education Interventions.
• NMPED licensure as an Educational Diagnostician.
• Certification through the National Certification of Educational Diagnosticians.

FLSA

Exempt, paid using the Teacher Salary Schedule based on licensure level, education, and experience; work schedule based on School Calendar (189 days per year).
