Qualifications

• Must have 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours verified by college transcripts.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• State of Ohio certification/license required.
• ParaPro test or equivalent required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of students as directed by the principal.
• Supervise students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in preparing and duplicating classroom material.
• Act as liaison for the District, community, staff, students, and parents with tact and diplomacy.
• Assist students with classwork and make-up work.
• Maintain student and miscellaneous records.
• Assist students in developing life skills and appropriate social behaviors.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Follow district policies and safety guidelines.
• Attend educational field trips and assist with recess/lunch supervision.
• Escort students throughout the building.
• Attend meetings and in-services as required.
• Assist teacher with clerical duties such as preparing papers and typing.
• Administer basic first aid to students as necessary.
