Job summary

Douglas County School District in Colorado is seeking an Educational Assistant IV - Vision to support students with visual impairments. You will modify instructional materials and assist teachers in classroom, one-on-one, or small groups to enhance learning outcomes.

Candidates should be eager to learn braille and pursue required certification within 3 years of employment, and be flexible to travel between district schools as needed.

  • Prepare on-site materials and adapt for individual students.
  • Collaborate with team members and work independently as required.
  • Maintain the vision department's library of tactile and large-print books.
  • Prepare adapted materials in a timely fashion for students and instructors.

Job Posting Title:

Educational Assistant IV - Vision

Job Description:

The educational assistant for the program of the visually impaired is primarily responsible for modifying materials to enhance instruction as requested by the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and working directly with students with visual impairments including blindness.

Must have a strong interest in learning braille and becoming certified either by the state of CO or the National Federation for the Blind within 3 years of employment.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Occasional lifting of forty (40) to seventy (70) pounds
Frequent bending, standing, sitting, walking
Occasional reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, or standing
Ability to run short distances

  • — Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.

  • All salary amounts listed above are based on a full‑time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part‑time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
