Job summary

Roane County Schools seeks an Educational Assistant to support teachers and foster a productive learning environment. The role involves assisting with daily activities, guiding students, and maintaining orderly classroom spaces.

The ideal candidate will hold a High School Diploma and, if possible, an Associates degree or ParaPro assessment score, with duties including record-keeping and student supervision throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or passing ParaPro Assessment (456+ score) preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
• Conducts learning exercises with individuals or small groups of children.
• Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
• Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual children.
• Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
• Must be able to walk students throughout the building as necessary.
• Helps maintain individual records for each child.
• Assist the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
• Assist with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
• Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
• Assist students with personal care.
