Job summary

The Arizona Department of Education is seeking a Business Analyst to design and deliver award‑winning educational web applications for K‑12 students, teachers and staff in Arizona. You will translate business needs into BRDs or Agile backlog items, create wireframes, use cases and reports, and work closely with developers and QA to ensure successful delivery.

You will gather requirements from clients, map processes, and identify opportunities for improving workflows and cross‑domain integrations

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 4 years' practical experience in business analysis.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in scrum/agile environments; Scrum certification preferred.
Experience gathering requirements from the client/business and documenting.
Experience with process improvement, workflow, benchmarking and / or evaluation of business processes.
Intermediate level of proficiency with PC-based software programs and automated database management systems (Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Ability to communicate analysis including trends and opportunities to clients and the business in writing and verbally.
Working knowledge of SharePoint is highly preferred.
Working knowledge of Team Foundation Services 2013 preferred.
Experience in education industry preferred.

Responsibilities

Understand what the business does and how it is accomplished; identify key process dependencies.
Analyze functional requirements to identify information, procedures and decision flows.
Assist in identifying scope of work.
Elicit requirements and document as BRD or Agile backlog items.
Prepare business process maps and high-level workflows.
Create Use Cases, Functional Specification, Wireframes, and Report Mock-ups.
Develop Agile backlog items with assumptions, acceptance criteria, user details, and non-functional requirements.
Identify complex requirements across systems and business domains.
Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences; coordinate testing with QA.
Perform other duties as assigned.
