Job summary

Pacific Whale Foundation seeks an Education Specialist to oversee and implement education programs at our Ma'alaea Harbor headquarters. The role supports Ocean Camp, internship programs, and curriculum development, while ensuring a safe, engaging learning environment for students of all ages.

You will collaborate with the Education Manager to deliver high-quality field and classroom experiences, aligning with Next Generation Science Standards and Hawaiian cultural integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, Marine or Environmental Science or related field, preferred
• At least 2 years of formal or informal teaching experience with various age groups and abilities; environmental education preferred
• Experience developing and implementing science/environmental education curriculum; NGSS/CCSS experience preferred
• Strong classroom management and safety training
• Comfort with field-based and vessel-based programs

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement education programs including Ocean Camp and other PWF education initiatives
• Assist and support Ocean Career Quest and related internships
• Develop new education programs and curricula
• Lead programs and support other department programs
• Maintain a positive learning environment and ensure safety
• Coordinate materials, inventories, and program logistics
• Support curriculum development aligned with NGSS and Hawaiian culture
• Assist with events and outreach and data collection
• Maintain professional relationships with participants, teachers, and partners
• Prepare and manage program spaces and resources
• Contribute to data collection and program metrics
