Work ShiftDayScheduled Weekly Hours40SummaryThis position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by administering and delivering foundational educational programs across the organization. This could include oversight of the BCLS Program, and credentialing of new BCLS instructors. Oversees additional learning and development programs supporting staff growth. This position ensures staff have the tools necessary to provide safe patient care in a method in line with the Mercy Touch.Job DescriptionJob Duties/Essential FunctionsJob DutiesUnderstand basic principles of adult education.Deliver basic training to end users.Maintain certification or skill required to teach assigned content.Serve as education resource to the organization.Communicate with members of various levels within the organization.Accurately assess the end user population and training they will receive based on role.Manage training schedules and resources to meet organizational demand.Serve as a support function on the floor.Coordinate various training sessions with available resources.BCLS & CMA Administrator: Administer the BCLS Program in accordance with AHA Training Center Standards, including course delivery, instructor credentialing, certification tracking, and equipment maintenance.BCLS & CMA Administrator: Oversee and administer the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program, including enrollment, learner support, scheduling and outcome tracking.Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.Department Specific DutiesN/AKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent written and oral communication skills.Excellent presentation skills, excellent customer relation skills.Ability to establish rapport with hospital staff and management level staff.Self-starter: ability to initiate projects, plan own activities and make decisions within the framework of the responsibility and authority of the job.Must possess self-confidence in ability to facilitate &/or teach both large and small groups.Serve as positive role model and function as a change agent in creating a preferred future for staff development and continuing education.Willingness to assist in using simulation training equipment pertinent to the healthcare environment.Ability to operate audiovisual equipment, including slide projects, overhead projectors and PowerPoint applications, etc.BCLS & CMA Administrator: Knowledge of AHA BCLS program standards, Training Center operations, and the instructor credentialing process.Professional ExperiencePrior experience teaching adults required. Minimum two years clinical experience desired.EducationAssociates degree or healthcare related certification (Paramedic, RN, LPN) is required. Bachelor's degree in nursing, community health education or related field preferred.Licensure, Certification, RegistrationCurrent licensure or certification as appropriate for profession required.Current AHA BCLS Instructor certification required. As of 5/1/26, any incumbent has been grandfathered.Current AHA Instructor Trainer or Faculty status or ability to obtain within six months of hire or transfer required.
