Job summary

Magnolia Public Schools in Reseda, CA, seeks a qualified educator to lead special education programs and coordinate curriculum integration. This full-time role emphasizes development and evaluation of educational activities to support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

The candidate should hold a California Education Specialist credential and a relevant degree, with preferred Master’s, and strong knowledge of IEP processes, curriculum design, and collaboration with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • CA Credential as Education Specialist with mild/moderate or severe designation.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP goals, development, and implementation.
  • Solid knowledge of curriculum and instruction principles.
  • Documentation and credentialing per state requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in program evaluations and follow-up procedures.
  • Write/develop federal and state projects for facilities and equipment.
  • Coordinate integration of special education into the total school program.
  • Provide leadership in curriculum development.
  • Maintain good public and community relations.
  • Interview instructional candidates for Special Education areas and make recommendations to principals.
  • Procure and distribute new, specialized materials and equipment.
  • Supervise record keeping of students in the program.
  • Coordinate staff conferences and orientation meetings.
  • Interact with parents and outside agencies to support system initiatives.
  • Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  • Serve on councils or committees as assigned.
  • Assist in interpretation of programs and policies to staff, students, parents and community.
  • Work with school staff to support improvement initiatives and processes.
  • Disseminate information about current research and best practices.

Job Description

  • Work closely with school staff to support school improvement initiatives and processes.
  • Keep informed and disseminate information about current research, trends and best practices in areas of responsibility.
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and evaluation of staff development activities in assigned areas.
  • Attend training sessions, conferences and workshops as assigned or appropriate to keep abreast of current practices, programs and legal issues.
  • Other duties as needed.

$76000 - $90000 / year

Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S. degree
  • Masters degree preferred
  • CA Credential as Education Specialist with mild/moderate or severe designation
  • Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
  • Knowledge of IEP goal setting process and implementation
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • California Commission on Teacher Credentialing certificate, permit or other documentation equivalent to what a special education teacher in other public schools would be required to hold
  • Highly Qualified in accordance with the No Child Left behind Act
