Job summary

Gilbane Building Company is seeking a skilled SCA Estimator to conceptualize and interpret project scope from incomplete or schematic documents for School Construction Authority projects. The role sits primarily in the office, collaborating with design and project teams to develop detailed cost estimates.

You will prepare estimates across design phases, review contract documents, and participate in cost negotiations to help deliver safe, on-time, and within-budget school projects in New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or related field.
• 5 years full-time estimating experience in architecture, electrical, mechanical or plumbing.
• 3 years in construction-related areas or equivalent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Confers with a broad range of technical, professional and managerial personnel to coordinate and establish detailed construction cost estimates.
• Ensures the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and construction.
• Supervises the development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations relating to design documents, contract drawings, specifications or contract changes.
• Reviews and reports on contract estimates prepared by private consultants and recommends if estimate is appropriate for implementation.
• Participates in cost negotiations.
• Plans, assigns, and reviews the cost estimating work.
