Job summary

Georgia Department of Education seeks an Education Program Specialist to provide statewide leadership and coordination for instructional programs across career clusters including Advanced Manufacturing, Arts, Entertainment and Design, Construction, and Supply Chain and Transportation.

The role involves developing statewide standards, coordinating curriculum development, and facilitating professional development with stakeholders, while reporting program outcomes to guide improvements and policy

Qualifications

  • GaPSC educator certification is required.
  • Master’s degree in education or related field and at least five years teaching experience in a related CTAE field.
  • Experience with Georgia Skills USA and related associations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide statewide leadership and coordination for instructional programs in required career clusters.
  • Develop and administer statewide career cluster programs and provide planning and consultative services to local schools.
  • Identify professional development needs and create training materials/methods in coordination with staff and external partners.
  • Create/manage statewide advisory committee representing the state and evaluate program implementation data for improvements.
  • Coordinate curriculum development and implementation of Georgia Performance Standards and industry certification processes.

Job Summary

Provides statewide leadership and coordination for instructional programs in the following career clusters: (1) Advanced Manufacturing; (2) Arts, Entertainment and Design; (3) Construction; and (4) Supply Chain and Transportation. Duties include - providing leadership and coordination in the development and administration of statewide career cluster programs; providing planning and consultative services to local schools; identifying professional development needs; developing appropriate training materials and methods in conjunction with other staff and agencies to address identified needs and ensure coordination of professional development activities; creating and managing a statewide advisory committee comprised of stakeholders representing the entire state; assessing status of program implementation, documenting results, and recommending changes and improvements based on research and evaluation data; coordinating the development of the Georgia Performance Standards curriculum development and implementation; coordinating selected industry certification processes, and working cooperatively with the Georgia Skills USA Board of Directors, the Georgia Skills USA Executive Director, the Trade and Industrial Educators of Georgia Executive Board and various external groups that support programs

Minimum Qualifications:

Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) educator certification. A Master’s degree in education, education administration, or a related field, and five (5) years teaching experience in a related CTAE field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active involvement in professional organizations including Georgia Trade and Industrial Education Association and Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education.
  • Experience with the Georgia Skills USA Executive Council and/or Georgia Skills USA Board of Directors
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Considerable knowledge of and experience with the instructional programs in the following career clusters: Advanced Manufacturing, Arts, Entertainment and Design, Construction, and Supply Chain and Transportation at the local or state level

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
