Job description

The most effective leaders understand that success is not defined by individual accomplishments. It is measured by the achievements of those they develop and support. If you have experience building exceptional teams, mentoring individuals to surpass performance targets, and operating in settings where excellence is non-negotiable, this opportunity allows you to leverage those capabilities to influence the next generation. At Alpha, students do not spend their time in traditional lectures. They advance academically through adaptive technology while Guides provide coaching, accountability, motivation, and life skills development. As a Lead Guide, you will assemble and develop the team that executes this model—mentoring Guides, cultivating leaders, and establishing an environment where students routinely surpass expectations. This is not a role focused on instructional coaching, nor is it traditional classroom teaching. You will not review lesson plans or observe lectures, because none exist. Instead, your work centers on building a culture of excellence through Guide coaching, facilitating impactful life skills workshops, and inspiring students to pursue ambitious goals. Performance will be assessed based on the quality of the student experience, your team's outcomes, and your capacity to uphold rigorous standards while motivating others to reach them. Alpha is constructing the world's premier K-12 experience. This demands leaders who have demonstrated their ability to elevate the performance of others, make evidence-based decisions, and champion innovative approaches instead of defending legacy practices. If this reflects your background, we encourage you to connect with us. This position is presently available at select Alpha campuses: Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Orange County, CA; and Santa Barbara, CA. If you are currently in one of these markets—or open to relocating—we want to hear from you. Exceptional candidates from other regions are also welcome to apply. As Alpha grows, we frequently align outstanding leaders with opportunities throughout our expanding campus network.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Mentoring Guides to reliably deliver outstanding student experiences while upholding Alpha's rigorous standards.
  • Facilitating dynamic life skills workshops that cultivate communication, leadership, focus, and other essential real-world competencies for K-12 students.
  • Inspiring students to pursue ambitious learning objectives and maximize their progress in self-directed academic programs.
  • Leveraging data, observation, and coaching dialogues to enhance Guide effectiveness and student results.
  • Supporting the launch and establishment of new Alpha campuses by fostering a culture grounded in excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Delivering traditional academic instruction or subject-specific lectures.
  • Developing lesson plans or designing curriculum materials.
  • Compromising standards to create an illusion of success rather than facilitating genuine mastery.
  • Leading a team remotely from an office without direct, regular coaching engagement with students and Guides.
  • Defending outdated methods simply because they represent established practice.
