Job summary

Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) is seeking an Education Manager to lead the Education/Child Development programs within Head Start. The role includes planning recruitment, coordinating transitions between centers, and guiding staff performance and program reviews.

The position requires a BS in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent), supervisory experience, and strong communication skills. Travel to Head Start sites and trainings is expected as part of this role.

Qualifications

• BS in Early Childhood Education or a BS with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education and experience with pre-school age children.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Willing and able to travel to Head Start sites, trainings, home visits, etc.
• Background check, fingerprint screen, annual physical and TB.
• Knowledge of community agencies and resources.
• Management / Supervisory experience.
• Ability to relate to people from varied backgrounds.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with planning, coordination and implementation of ongoing recruitment of children.
• Organizes, directs and monitors transition activities between Child Development Centers and Local Education Association.
• Responsible for annual review and updating of functional plan in transition area.
• Provides one on one intervention with children with behavioral concerns.
• Trains, supervises personnel in Education Services and delegates responsibilities.
• Completes accurate performance evaluations of appropriate personnel.
• Observes center operation regularly to assess procedures.
• Assists in development of the Grant Application.
