Job summary

Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center in Defiance, OH is seeking a Paraprofessional to support students and teachers on a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:45 am to 3:15 pm with a paid lunch. The role involves non-teaching support, classroom materials prep, and student assistance under supervision.

Starting pay ranges from $15.00 to $19.00 per hour depending on experience. Candidates must have an educational aide permit and a valid school-employee background.

Qualifications

• Valid state department of education license/permit at time of appointment.
• Meets mandated state/federal criteria (e.g., approved degree, completion of requisite higher education).
• Educational aide permit required.
• Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and willingness to take on challenging tasks.
• Documents/maintains a record free of criminal violations prohibiting public school employment.
• Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs non-teaching support services as a collaborative member of the educational team.
• Prepares classroom materials and equipment; keeps program areas orderly.
• Assists with student daily living activities, behavior management and instructional support.
• Reinforces instructional objectives and supports inclusive environment.
• Maintains accurate records and prepares required paperwork on time.
• Keeps current with emergency management plan procedures.
