Job summary

Goodwill North Central Texas in Fort Worth is seeking an Education and Literacy Instructor (AEL) to develop and deliver instruction for adult learners at multiple sites.

The role requires creating lesson plans tied to assessments, guiding students toward measurable progress, and maintaining required reports, attendance and records in a timely manner.

Monday through Friday work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with opportunities to support recruitment and site activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and Texas teaching certificate.
• ESL certification preferred and working knowledge of a second language preferred.
• Two years’ experience teaching or training adults.
• Strong verbal and written communication with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain lesson plans based upon formal assessments and student goals.
• Deliver contextualized instruction to AEL participants in IET classes.
• Manage classroom behavior and maintain records in a timely manner.
• Submit required documentation and reports in accordance with program guidelines.

Job Title: Education and Literacy Instructor (AEL)

General Job Duties: All job functions are to be performed following safety guidelines and regulations.Develop and maintain lesson plans based upon formal assessments and student goals using instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs. Instruction must produce educational improvements for all assigned students as measured by student baseline/progress testing. Conducts any and all activities necessary to secure progress tests for all students after 40 hours of instruction. Conduct all activities necessary to meet and surpass all Target Performance Measures including but not limited to recruitment efforts, traveling to different class sites when needed and facilitate contextualized classroom instruction to AEL participants in IET classes. Submit all required documentation and reports in accordance with program guidelines: student-related (attendance reports, assessment, counseling notes, etc., and all staff-related (timesheets, professional development forms, end of year, etc.) Manage classroom behavior.Maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to policies, procedures, and regulations. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required in a timely manner.Attend staff meetings, and other Goodwill North Central Texas event/meetings as required.Other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level (strongly preferred). ESL certification (strongly preferred). Working knowledge of a second language (strongly preferred). Trained in adult learning methodology and a minimum of two years’ experience working with adults. Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly with individuals from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, and community.

Physical Requirements: Office environment, mobile, ability to sit for long periods of time, and able to lift 10-15 lbs occasionally. Must have reliable transportation.

Legal Requirements: Documentation to satisfy I-9, ability to pass drug screen, background check, and meet staff qualifications.
