Job summary

Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. is seeking an education intern for the summer to join the education and engagement team in downtown Indianapolis.

You will work about 37.5 hours per week from mid-May to mid-August, helping with lessons, materials, and activities for students and teachers. Preferred candidates are pursuing degrees in agricultural education or agricultural communications, with prior experience in creating educational content for middle and high school students.

Qualifications

• College student in sophomore through senior year.
• Applicants pursuing an agricultural education or agricultural communications degree.
• Experience in preparing educational lessons and activities for students.

Responsibilities

• Work with programs and activities to educate students about agriculture.
• Research elementary agriculture‑accurate books and develop educational materials.
• Prepare and facilitate lessons for AITC summer workshops.
• Develop content to enhance Indiana agriculture lessons and kits.
• Deliver lessons to students at Felege Hiywot Center.
• Engage with volunteers and staff during state events.

Description

The education intern will join the education and engagement team at Indiana Farm Bureau, which focuses on educating students and the public about agriculture and offering networking, leadership development, and hands‑on experience for personal and professional growth.

As a summer intern you will work approximately 37.5 hours per week at our downtown headquarters, from mid‑May to Mid‑August:

• working with programs and activities that enhance student and consumer understanding of modern agriculture
• researching elementary agriculture‑accurate books and developing educational materials for volunteers and teachers
• preparing and facilitating lessons for AITC summer workshops
• developing content to enhance specific Indiana agriculture lessons and/or kits
• preparing and delivering lessons to students at the Felege Hiywot Center
• working with member volunteers and INFB staff during the Indiana State Fair, Taste from Indiana Farms, and the Young Farmers & Ag Professionals planning meeting.

Preferred qualifications

• Applicants pursuing an agricultural education or agricultural communications degree
• Experience in preparing educational lessons and activities for middle- and high- school students
• An agricultural background.

Required qualifications

• Applicants who are self‑motivated, creative, detail‑oriented, have an awareness of Indiana academic standards, and can establish clearly defined goals and objectives for projects.
• A college student in their sophomore through senior year.

This is a non‑exempt, temporary position with an hourly wage of $17.00 USD less applicable withholding, paid on a bi‑weekly basis.
