Job summary

ACLU SoCal seeks a Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney for Education Equity to advance racial justice and protect education rights across Southern California. The Attorney will co-create advocacy campaigns, litigate cases, engage in policy work, and provide technical assistance to coalitions and government bodies.

The role includes travel in Southern California, collaboration with the Education Equity Team, and potential leadership responsibilities for junior attorneys and interns.

Qualifications

• Excellent research, writing, analytic, and speaking skills.
• Ability to develop and litigate impact cases.
• Experience working with coalitions and advocacy campaigns.
• Admitted to practice law in California or willingness to take the CA bar exam.
• Spanish language fluency and willingness to live in Inland Region.

Responsibilities

• Co-create, implement, and participate in advocacy campaigns.
• Develop and litigate administrative, state, and federal cases; lead when senior.
• Engage in legislative and policy advocacy on education equity.
• Provide public education and technical assistance to coalitions and partners.
• Travel within Southern California and occasionally to other parts of the state.
