Job summary

Longview World of Wonders is seeking an Education Director to lead hands-on STEM learning experiences across museum programs, including school field trips, classes, and special events.

You will design, implement, and evaluate learning experiences, partner with executives on future content, and manage partnerships with schools and community organizations. A creative, organized leader with classroom background is ideal.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of classroom teaching experience; teaching certificate or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of child development and hands-on learning approaches; TEKS familiarity.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Creative, energetic, self-directed, and a team player.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and willingness to learn CRM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and design educational programs from concept to delivery, with staff support.
  • Design and prepare Invention Garage (Makerspace) programming, materials, and inventory.
  • Refresh and rotate exhibit learning activities.
  • Partner with Executive staff in designing future educational content for exhibits.
  • Lead field trip scheduling, communication, and logistics.
  • Develop STEAM curriculum aligned to TEKS for various ages.
  • Build and maintain relationships with area school districts.
  • Support field trip growth and revenue goals with executives.
  • Coordinate with city and partners for community programming.
  • Train floor staff on programs and assist in registration and budgeting.

Job description

Status: Full-time preferred; open to a flexible or reduced schedule for the right candidate.

Compensation: Full-time starting salary $40,000 with opportunity for growth, flexible schedule, and PTO; competitive hourly rate for flexible schedule.

Purpose of Position: The Education Director is the creative and operational leader of all educational programming at Longview World of Wonders. This position designs, implements, and evaluates museum learning experiences including school field trips, classes, and special events. In this role, you will ensure that our programs reflect our mission of hands-on STEM learning.

  • Plan and design the educational programs from concept to delivery, with support of staff.
  • Design and prepare Invention Garage (Makerspace) programming, materials, and inventory.
  • Refresh and rotate exhibit learning activities.
  • Partner with Executive staff in designing future educational content in exhibit design.
Field Trips and Group Services
  • Serve as lead contact for field trip scheduling, communication, and logistics.
  • Develop original STEAM curriculum and activity plans for early childhood through upper elementary. Align field trip lessons to TEKS and developmentally appropriate levels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with area school districts.
  • Work alongside executive staff to meet annual field trip growth and revenue goals.
Community Partnerships and Outreach
  • Coordinate with city and community partner organizations to develop collaborative programming and museum presence at community events.
  • Work with the Marketing Director to represent the mission publicly with schools and partners.
Team & Operations
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director to train floor staff on any needed program activities
  • Assist in managing program registration, scheduling, and program budget.
  • Support front desk operations and customer service as needed.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of classroom teaching experience in elementary or secondary education; a teaching certificate or equivalent work experience is required. Experience in youth programming, child development, or museum learning will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and hands-on learning approaches and familiarity with Texas Essential Knowledge Skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Creative, energetic, self-directed, and a team player.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and willingness to learn CRM systems.
