Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Data Strategist to support Teaching and Learning with data-driven strategies and data governance. You will work across departments to design reporting systems, develop dashboards, and transform large datasets into actionable insights that drive district priorities and program improvements.

The role requires 3+ years in data analytics, coding with SAS/R/Python, and experience communicating complex methods to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, psychology, social science, public policy, economics, statistics, or related field including quantitative coursework
• Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred
• Minimum of three (3) years years of professional experience in a role requiring data analytics, data system management, relationship management, and consultative skills
• Minimum of one (1) year experience writing code with data analytic tools (SAS, R, Python, SPSS, STATA, etc.)
• Experience developing and facilitating training for internal and external stakeholders on the effective interpretation and strategic use of data
• Experience working in or with an urban education system with a focus on teaching and learning, social, emotional, and behavioral supports

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement systems of data collection and data reporting for internal and external audiences
• Perform analysis and transformation on large and complex datasets using SAS, SQL, Python to inform strategic decisions
• Collaborate with department leaders to provide teams with consultative support in the effective use of data
• Build the capacity of T&L departments by holding office hours, providing consultation and training
• Serve as research expert for T&L departments, guiding data research in planning
• Ensure data quality, security, and integrity across the office following DAUG and Data Governance
• Lead data/reporting coordination with external partners including government agencies and vendors
• Participate in department meetings using data to inform program needs
• Participate in the District’s DAUG
• Other duties as assigned
