Job summary

Iowa Department of Education seeks an Education Program Consultant (Data and Reporting) to lead data processing for student, staff, and course records across Iowa’s 15 community colleges, supporting state and federal accountability reporting. The role also handles HSED candidate records and MIS enhancements.

Responsibilities include data cleaning, automation, and providing technical assistance to educators and stakeholders, with emphasis on data quality and system improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience with managing data for state or federal reporting.
• Experience using Google Workspace and data analytics tools.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS or similar.
• Programming/editing databases with Visual Basic/Access/SQL/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in data processing to create detailed and summary databases for accountability reporting.
• Acquire data from primary/secondary sources and maintain statewide databases/data systems.
• Assist with statewide MIS database maintenance.
• Evaluate and design data processing support for the MIS and data submissions.
• Edit MIS databases using Visual Basic, Access, SQL, and Excel or coordinate edits with contractors.
• Filter and clean data to locate and correct code problems.
• Design processes to automate edits and provide instant validation feedback.
• Provide data/technical assistance for year-end federal reporting and statewide data analysis.
• Collaborate on statewide initiatives and data sharing with stakeholders.
• Other MIS/data duties as assigned.
