Job summary

California College Guidance Initiative is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Cloud Infrastructure Team. You will develop and optimize batch and streaming ETL/ELT processes, containerize workflows, and scale data intake across cloud architectures using Snowflake and AWS.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, document technical specifications, and support data warehousing and self-service BI. Remote work within California with occasional travel; candidates must reside in California.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Data Engineer or related role.
• Experience building ETL/ELT workloads and containerized workloads in cloud environments.
• Experience scaling data intake from batch to streaming and automating data delivery.
• Strong SQL knowledge across relational databases and data modeling for warehousing.
• Proven ability to document technical designs and governance practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of batch and streaming ETL/ELT processes.
• Containerize and test workflows using AWS, Snowflake, Python, and dbt.
• Redesign data models to support warehousing and self-service BI.
• Automate data pipelines with Python and SQL, integrating Salesforce, Slack and AWS services.
• Collaborate with SMEs on time-bound projects and produce technical documentation.
• Develop expertise on CaliforniaColleges.edu data, systems, and processes.
• Stay current with industry trends to continuously improve pipelines and architecture.
