Job summary

Hunterdon Art Museum is seeking an Education Coordinator to lead the planning and execution of classes, workshops, and K–12 programs. You will manage registrations, serve as the main contact between students and instructors, maintain studios, and help create engaging experiences for learners and visitors.

You will collaborate with the Director of Education and staff to promote art education, ensure safety, and implement ongoing program goals while contributing to community outreach across events

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with registration software (Mainstreet) and website updates (Wordpress or similar).
  • Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, InDesign or similar design tools.
  • BA/BFA in Art Education, Studio Art, Fine Arts, Museum Education or related field.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in art education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs., with required physical activity.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and lead tours for the public and create gallery guides.
  • Create promotional materials for classes and workshops.
  • Set up and break down special events, workshops and programs.
  • Oversee Summer Camp logistics with Director of Education and volunteers.
  • Represent the museum at off-site community events.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned.

Job description

Job Overview

As the Education Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of developing and executing the Hunterdon Art Museum’s classes, workshops and programs focusing on the visual arts. Your role will encompass managing registration, acting as the main point of contact between students and instructors, maintaining the studios, and overseeing, and implementing K – 12 programs while inspiring a passion for creativity in our students and visitors. The position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in art and art education, and who are committed to making a positive impact through the power of the visual arts. This position reports to the Director of Education.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Process registrations, payments and student records
  • Manage calendar of classes and workshops
  • Serve as liaison to students, faculty and museum staff
  • Organize student art showcases

  • Stay up to date with current art trends and teaching methodologies

  • Assist setting up and breaking down special events, workshops, and programs
  • Oversee Summer Camp logistics in tandem with Director of Education and Summer Camp Assistant and Volunteers
  • Represent the museum at off-site community events
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
  • Familiarity with Mainstreet (or similar) registration software and ability to maintain education page on website (Wordpress or similar)
  • Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, In Design, or similar graphic design software
  • B.A. or B.F.A. in Art Education, Studio Art, Fine Arts, Museum Education or related degree and/or experience
  • Knowledge of current best practices in art education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs., this position requires physical activity and frequent bending, lifting, stopping and carrying of objects
Compensation

This exempt position pays $18.00 per hour. This position does not offer health care benefits though we offer a 403(b) retirement account. Work schedule is full-time, 35 hrs/wk, (Monday – Friday) with occasional evenings and weekends with some flexibility.
