The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 140 clinical providers, providing care at the main hospital in Hyde Park and seven off site locations. We have more than 68,000 outpatient visits, 28,000 ultrasound visits, 2,800 deliveries, and 3,300 surgeries per year. Teaching, research, and the highest quality clinical care are top priorities for the Department. The residency and fellowship programs are highly ranked and have a history of training leaders in healthcare. The Department also has a significant research enterprise, engaging in population health studies, as well as research conducted in wet laboratories on tumor biology, fibroid research, and hypertensive diseases in pregnancy. Additionally, the Section of Family Planning has established a unique research center, CI3, which focuses on reproductive policy and innovations in sexual and reproductive health. The department was ranked #16 on the 2022-2023 U.S. News & World Report.
Job Summary
The job provides professional support and solves straightforward problems in regards to the operations of accredited and non-accredited residency and fellowship training programs. Responsible for accreditation, duty schedules, evaluation, recruitment, Match process, and orientation. Ensures compliance with regulatory bodies.
The Education Coordinator assists the Program Manager in developing and maintaining the educational quality of the residency training program and ensuring compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements. This role functions as a liaison between the Program Manager, residents/ fellows/medical students, GME Office, participating sites, and other departments, and must be knowledgeable about patient care/operational activities at the various training sites in which their residents rotate.
The job provides professional support and solves straightforward problems for a broad range of academic activities. May develop and implement office procedures and policies and ensures compliance. This position coordinates all aspects of fellowship clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position should serve as a mentor to the fellows and as a facilitator for all the fellowship program activities. This position should foster consistent interactions with the fellows throughout the year. This position should have the ability to interact collegially with faculty, staff, learners and outside contacts to carry out the mission of the educational programs assigned.
Responsibilities
- Participates in day-to-day operations of accredited education programs and ensures compliance with organizations such as the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
- Supports the Education Administrator primarily with the Residency Program but also assists with other department programs, as needed.
- Organize and manage the application, selection, and placement process for residents, including screening applications and coordinating interviews.
- Adhere to all deadline submissions for ACGME, GME, and NRMP including but not limited to documentation deadlines and annual report submissions.
- Facilitate orientation sessions for new residents, providing them with all necessary information regarding residency policies, expectations, and resources.
- Coordinate logistics for residency-related events, such as seminars, workshops, and conferences, scheduling, and participant communication.
- Liaise between education leadership and residents, ensuring effective communication and addressing any issues that arise during residency.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the residency program through surveys and feedback mechanisms, proposing improvements based on findings.
- Make decisions regarding the actual execution of projects.
- Ensure program policies and procedures are being adhered to.
- Serve as the liaison between the directors, program manager, faculty and the residents (both internal and external).

- Evaluations
- File Organization and Management
- Didactic Coordination & Correspondence
- Meeting Minutes for Housestaff, CCC, and PEC
- Resident Meal Calculations for GME
- Interview and Onboarding Coordination
- Coordinates and interprets requirements of the training program, including accreditation, duty schedules, evaluation process, resident/fellowship recruitment, Match process, orientation and employee relations.
- Has a moderate/high level of authority in reporting and ensuring compliance with procedures regarding licensing, moonlighting, annual contracts, and initial recredentialing of trainees.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Education:
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
