Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay is seeking an Education Compliance Specialist for the Early Childhood Impact Program in Richmond, CA. The role focuses on ensuring quality Head Start standards, California regulations, and licensing compliance within classrooms and centers.

You will support teachers and directors with data-driven improvement, monitor facilities, and assist in implementing Creative Curriculum. This position emphasizes collaboration, training, and ongoing program quality in a hands-on

Qualifications

  • AA Degree or above in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field with appropriate ECE coursework.
  • Experience working with children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Pre-employment physical examination and TB clearance
  • Live Scan fingerprint and criminal record clearance
  • Must be able to communicate in English with proficiency, bilingual or multi-lingual preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer programs

Responsibilities

  • Monitor classrooms and centers using internal and prescribed external monitoring tools.
  • Collect, aggregate and analyze data to inform compliance and improvement plans.
  • Provide technical assistance to Teachers and Center Directors regarding compliance with Head Start, CAL Department of Education and CAL Department of Social Services requirements.
  • Participate in education-related monitoring, analysis, and program improvement plans.
  • Support the implementation of Creative Curriculum with the agency’s monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with Education Coaches to help teachers create engaging learning environments.
  • Monitor Health and Safety requirements per regulations and standards.
  • Provide data and reporting to Education team as requested.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and classes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Essential Function from the Job Description for this role:
  • Monitor classrooms and centers using internal and prescribed external monitoring tools. Collect, aggregate and analyze data in order to inform general compliance and improvement plans.
  • Provide technical assistance to Teachers and Center Directors regarding compliance with Early/Head Start Performance Standards, California Department of Education/California Department of Social Services Funding Terms and Conditions, and Community Care Licensing, primarily within the area of Education.
  • Participate in regular education related monitoring, analysis, and program improvement plans.
  • Support the implementation of Creative Curriculum by providing specific technical assistance to classrooms through use of the agency’s internal monitoring tool.
  • In collaboration with Education Coaches, support teachers in creating and maintaining stimulating, organized, and inviting learning environments in the classroom and in outdoor play areas through data-informed outcomes.
  • Support classroom Health and Safety requirements according to Community Care Licensing, Head Start Performance Standards, and California Department of Education/California Department of Social Services regulations.
  • Monitor classroom materials, equipment and indoor/outdoor facilities to ensure safety, performing and/or requesting maintenance as required.
  • Support the Education team by providing data and reporting, as requested.
  • Participate in meetings, classes, and trainings, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work environment & Physical Demands:

  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations
  • Must be able to work on a computer for an extended period of time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
