Job Summary

Performs specialized work by assisting school teachers in instructing and supervising the activities of students to provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. Responsibilities include helping in preparing instructional materials, setting up classrooms for activities, supervising and assisting children in various areas of the school, reinforcing classroom lessons, and providing additional support as needed. Incumbents may also assist students with special needs or coordinate special projects and programs. The position operates under direct supervision according to established procedures for classroom support within the Early Childhood Program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours), or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
• One (1) year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Must be able to obtain the Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) within two (2) years of hire.

Note: Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required. Degree equivalency is as follows: Bachelor's Degree = 4 years plus required experience; Master's Degree = 6 years plus required experience.
