Job description

This position is responsible for the overall operation and management of the Education Services Department for a specified area in accordance with Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Care Centers, Performance Standards, the Hidalgo County Civil Service Commission Rules, and the Hidalgo County Head Start Program Policies and Procedures.

Ensure that the program adheres to the Head Start Performance Standards, Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Care Centers, Hidalgo County Civil Service Commission Rules, Program Policies and Procedures, and other applicable regulations.

Plan, conduct, and evaluate goals, policies, and activities to implement education objectives and performance standards.

Develop and evaluate comprehensive educational services for all enrolled children.

Develop a scope of instruction for three- and four-year-olds across eight domains: Language Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Creative Arts, Social and Emotional Development, Approaches to Teaching, and Physical Health and Development.

Organize and provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for the enrolled children.

Lead in developing daily schedules that comply with Head Start standards and Texas Minimum Standards.

Assist classroom staff in creating and implementing behavior management plans.

Coordinate with community agencies and educational resources to deliver educational programs.

Provide leadership and support to staff in curriculum use, program operations, staff management, and facility provision.

Ensure integration of Head Start Content Areas into classroom instruction.

Monitor the implementation of the special education program to ensure integrated service delivery.

Coordinate with the Procurement Director to ensure appropriate classroom materials.

Assist in planning, conducting, and evaluating training and technical assistance activities.

Support the personnel department in developing employee performance evaluation procedures.

For Home-Based Programs, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate program goals and objectives.

Evaluate all supervised staff.

Organize and conduct monitoring activities at assigned centers.

Assist Staff Development in organizing staff development activities.

Support center staff in utilizing children's data for individualized instruction.

Help the center manager provide instructional materials across domains.

Develop and implement a classroom instruction monitoring system.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Executive Director.

Requirements include a Master’s Degree in Education or a related field, with endorsement in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Prefer 2-4 years of experience in early childhood education.

Experience in supervision and personnel management is required.

Excellent writing and presentation skills are necessary.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

Must have a vehicle and current liability insurance for work-related travel.
