Job summary

STAR Autism Support is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to build automated test coverage and lead usability, accessibility, and performance testing across our web apps and APIs. You will set quality practices, select tooling, and collaborate closely with product and engineering to ship reliable software for educators and students with autism and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

5+ years in software quality engineering or QA automation.
Ownership of an automated test suite you built or rebuilt.
Experience with a modern end-to-end framework such as Playwright or Cypress.
Hands-on API testing, including auth flows and data setup.
Experience running performance or load tests with code-based tools like Gatling or k6.
Experience planning and moderating user or usability testing sessions.
Comfort with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
Strong writing producing useful documentation.

Responsibilities

Functional testing and automation: build and own automated regression suites wired into CI.
Decide test types and push coverage to cost-effective layers.
Write readable test code and fix flaky tests.
Run exploratory and risk-based manual testing when automation isn't suitable.
Own release verification with smoke suites and environment checks.
