Job description

Senior Consultant, Data Management

About Our Firm:

Granite Solutions Groupe provides financial services decision makers with people and solutions that deliver. Our clients count on us to deliver the right talent at the right time to achieve critical business results. We leverage our industry knowledge and passion for client priorities to deliver human capital solutions.

GSG was founded in 1998 as a consulting firm delivering project management and technology solutions for the financial services industry. GSG now has a global presence, with team members deployed across the U.S. at Fortune 1000 companies and high-performing Fintech firms.

High-caliber consultants are the face of GSG at our client organizations and offices. We value the deep relationships we have with our consultants that enable us to place them in roles where their skills will have an immediate impact. The GSG consulting team is comprised of diverse, experienced, driven, and dynamic contributors who excel at getting things done.

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced EDM Implementation Consultant to support the implementation of an Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solution within a large financial services organization.

The ideal candidate is not simply an EDM technologist. They should combine hands-on EDM implementation experience with deep reference data and capital markets expertise, along with an understanding of how reference data supports investment platforms such as Charles River Development (CRD). The consultant should be able to step into an active implementation, understand the business and technology requirements quickly, identify potential issues, and provide an informed point of view.

This individual should be comfortable challenging vendors on reference data requirements and implementation approaches, helping the team avoid preventable implementation errors, and taking ownership of the workstream where appropriate. The ability to hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up time is important.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of an Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solution focused on security and reference data.

  • Provide strong expertise in reference data management and understand how reference data supports investment-management applications and processes.

  • Help define, validate, and challenge reference data requirements.

  • Work with business and technology stakeholders to understand how reference data should be managed and distributed across the investment technology environment.

  • Support the integration and distribution of trusted reference data to downstream investment platforms, including CRD.

  • Partner with CRD and other technology stakeholders as needed to ensure reference data requirements are properly addressed.

  • Challenge and push implementation vendors on reference data expectations, requirements, and proposed approaches.

  • Identify potential implementation issues and help the team avoid unnecessary or preventable errors.

  • Provide practical guidance based on prior EDM and investment-management implementations.

  • Apply capital markets knowledge to ensure reference data solutions appropriately support financial instruments and investment processes.

  • Take ownership of assigned areas and help lead the EDM workstream forward where appropriate.

  • Work as part of the client's internal delivery team; this is not a managed services engagement with the EDM platform vendor.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Business, Data Management, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in Enterprise Data Management, reference data, or related investment technology roles, with significant hands-on EDM implementation experience.

  • Strong Enterprise Data Management (EDM) implementation experience.

  • Strong reference data domain expertise.

  • Hands-on experience with Cadis EDM, Markit EDM, IHS Markit EDM, S&P Global EDM, or Opus EDM.

  • Strong capital markets / investment-management domain knowledge.

  • Experience supporting reference data for investment-management applications, including Charles River Development (CRD).

  • Understanding of financial instruments, particularly:

    • Credit Default Swaps (CDS)

    • Interest Rate Swaps (IRS)

  • Understanding of how security/reference data flows into and supports downstream investment platforms and processes.

  • Experience working with implementation vendors and the ability to challenge vendor recommendations and expectations.

  • Strong combination of technology and financial-services domain expertise.

  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into practical data/technology solutions.

  • Ability to identify potential implementation issues and recommend practical solutions.

  • Ability to work independently and hit the ground running with minimal ramp-up time.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to take ownership of a workstream and help drive implementation forward.

Preferred:
  • Experience with security master / security reference data implementations.

  • Experience integrating EDM/reference data platforms with CRD.

  • Experience working with large-scale or complex security/reference data environments.

  • Experience with derivatives, fixed income, and other capital markets products.

  • Experience working directly with internal client teams in an implementation capacity.

Employee Benefits:

GSG is excited to offer its consultants excellent compensation and a robust option of benefits which include comprehensive medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage. You will receive company-paid life insurance. In addition, we hope you will take advantage of eligible commuter benefits-like paying for work-related public transit and parking with pre-tax dollars. Save for your retirement with pre-tax contributions that go directly into your 401K. We also care about your pets with several options for pet insurance, discount card and prescriptions.
