Job summary

JoVE is hiring a Review Manager to lead and optimize the peer-review workflow for the JoVE Journal. You will oversee review operations, manage a team of editors, and drive improvements in reviewer engagement and author experience.

The role requires a Ph.D. or Master’s in Life Science, 5+ years in academic publishing, and hands-on experience with manuscript management systems. You will work with global teams to accelerate science and education.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s in Life Science.
• 5+ years in academic/scientific publishing with review workflow expertise.
• Experience managing review teams and meeting deadlines.
• Strong understanding of review models (single/double/open access).
• Hands-on with manuscript management systems (Editorial Manager preferred).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills for synthesizing complex feedback.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end review process from submission to final decision.
• Lead and mentor a team of Review Editors for high performance.
• Provide training, feedback, and performance tracking to drive growth.
• Monitor KPIs like time to decision, reviewer turnaround, acceptance rates.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements and automation.
• Develop strategies to improve reviewer engagement and turnaround times.
• Collaborate with Editorial, Production, and Content teams for seamless publishing.
• Explore AI tools to enhance efficiency and quality.
