You will oversee interns and freelancers, assign fact-check duties, and contribute to front-of-book and digital stories as needed, ensuring ethical reporting standards and clear communication throughout the production process.

Qualifications

• Adept writing, reporting and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of InDesign.

Responsibilities

• Quickly analyze a manuscript for factual errors, logical flaws, and significant omissions
• Efficiently examine a writer’s sources and identify additional documents and sources
• Contact sources to corroborate information as needed
• Communicate changes and copy suggestions clearly to editors and writers through all stages of production
• Input fact changes into a Word document or InDesign file, careful not to introduce errors
• Archive fact checking reports on the internal server in an organized manner
• Train interns on fact-checking policies and oversee assignments
• Contribute to front of book articles, feature packages, and digital stories as needed
