Responsibilities

  • Assist in building new processes that bring together merchandising and inventory management to forecast demand.
  • Project manage a roadmap of testing ideas for merchandising in the UI with Product and Engineering.
  • Conceptualize and work with engineering to create new tools and reports to forecast inventory needs.
  • Coordinate the cycle project plan for all inventory tasks to organize cross-functional team members.
  • Embrace an analytical mindset to create and share reports tracking inventory for quick decisions.
  • Optimize how inventory is managed to align with business objectives.
  • Compile and share member insights from surveys, social listening, and CS channels to drive actions.
  • Communicate with Product and Operations to share insights and implement ideas.

Job description

Book of the Month is looking for an ambitious Editorial Merchandising Associate to assist with our inventory and merchandising strategy and execution. This is an opportunity to combine business creativity with sharp analytical skills to bring together how we merchandise and manage inventory for our books. A successful candidate will have the ability and desire to be hands-on with a deep level of analytical iteration, while also being able to think at a strategic level and execute operationally with a high degree of accuracy.

What you will do…
  • Assist in building new processes that bring together merchandising and inventory management to accurately forecast demand created by our merchandising strategy.
  • Project manage a roadmap of testing ideas for how to merchandise the member experience in the UI, and work closely with Product and Engineering to execute these ideas
  • Conceptualize and work with engineering to create new tools and reports that help accurately forecast inventory needs based on a variety of relevant factors.
  • Coordinate the cycle project plan for all inventory tasks to organize the cross-functional team members required to develop our order demand forecasts.
  • Embrace an analytical mindset to create and share reports that track inventory and allow us to become more nimble through quick decision-making.
  • Optimize how we manage our inventory to line up with clear business objectives.
  • Compile and share out member insights through surveys, social listening, customer service contacts, and other channels to create actionable learnings and next steps.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams like Product and Operations to share helpful insights and implement new ideas.
About you…
  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory, product merchandising, or retail analytics, ideally in publishing or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience building new reports or processes to improve performance.
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced, iterative environment, and ready to work hard.
  • Creative and interested in coming up with new ideas.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • A love of reading and contemporary fiction. Current or past experience as a member of BOTM is a strong plus.

Salary range: $80,000 - 120,000
