Job summary

National Education Association in Washington, DC is seeking an Editorial Intern in the Center for Communications, Editorial Department for the Fall 2026 session. The internship runs six weeks to a full semester with a stipend of $20 per hour and up to 20 hours per week, based at NEA Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Interns will gain experience in writing, editing, researching, and creating content for NEA Today and related platforms, including policy forums and Capitol Hill visits.

Qualifications

• Students pursuing degrees in Education, Political Science, Government, Humanities and related fields are encouraged to apply.
• Internship offers training, development and exposure to diverse programmatic experiences.
• Fall 2026 session begins on/after Sept 14, 2026 and ends by Dec 14, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Research and write articles for NEA publications in print, digital and app formats.
• Assist editors with background research, information gathering and reporting.
• Participate in weekly editorial meetings and assignments.
• Pitch and develop story ideas and multimedia content.
