Job summary

Mansueto Ventures, publisher of Fast Company and Inc., seeks an ambitious Editorial Data & Insights Fellow to join our editorial team for a one-year fellowship. The role offers immersive data journalism training and exposure to two national brands in a modern newsroom.

Reporting to the Head of Editorial Strategy, the fellow will develop data-driven storytelling, editorial products, and visual narratives across platforms, collaborating with editors, designers, and product leaders.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Recent graduate with interest in journalism, data analysis, business, economics or public policy.
• Journalism or media experience through campus pubs, newsletters, podcasts, internships preferred.
• Curious, highly organized and eager to learn in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Excellent written, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
• Strong research skills to identify trends in complex datasets.
• Experience using AI-powered research and productivity tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a collaborative newsroom.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn new tools.
• Collaborative mindset with attention to detail.
• Adaptability and enthusiasm for solving challenging problems.
• Maintain confidentiality and sound editorial judgment.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and interpret datasets to identify editorial opportunities.
• Transform complex information into engaging visual and data-driven storytelling.
• Develop concepts for new editorial products and data features across Fast Company and Inc.
• Collaborate with editorial, design, product, and video teams to bring data stories to life.
• Support reporters and editors with research, data analysis, and insights.
• Build scalable workflows for faster data journalism production.
• Produce original reporting inspired by your research and analysis.
• Stay informed on new data sources, visualization techniques, and AI tools.
