Job summary

Nomura is seeking an Editor / Research Operations Analyst in New York to support Global Research with editorial, risk management and operational processes for an Asia-focused global team.

Responsibilities include reviewing written and audio/video products, managing review workflows, and ensuring language quality and branding while coordinating with Compliance and stakeholders. Office-based with some remote flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Native English speaker with strong grammar and attention to detail.
  • Undergraduate degree with strong GPA; commercial mindset and good judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and maturity to manage analyst expectations.
  • Basic understanding of balance sheets and financial analysis; willing to take FINRA Series 16.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; able to work US daytime hours with flexibility.

  • Ensure clear communication of views and logical report structure.

Role Description The Editor / Research Operations analyst will focus on a combination of responsibilities within Nomura’s Global Research function including editorial, risk management, and operational processes to support a global team with Asia focus, while based in the Americas. This role will include reviewing written reports as well as audio/video products produced by the Global Research team. Tasks include:

  • Act as a project manager for the Research product
  • Gain deep familiarity with our Research systems and liaise with various stakeholders throughout the review and approval process
  • Provide editorial review of the Research product, including from non-native speakers, to ensure correct grammar, spelling, and language
  • Ensure views are communicated clearly and reports are logically consistent
  • Mitigate reputational risk / limit franchise exposure by editing for tone and language on politically sensitive topics
  • Work with Compliance as needed
  • Consistently apply corporate branding and style guidelines

Skills, Experience, Qualifications And Knowledge Required Native English speaker; Japanese reading and writing skills preferred, but not required; Undergraduate degree with strong GPA; Superior English grammar skills and attention to detail; commercial mindset; Sound judgment/ability to spot reputational risk issues; Excellent interpersonal skills and maturity to manage analyst expectations; Basic understanding of balance sheet and financial analysis; Strong proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Willingness to take FINRA Series 16 examination; Ability to work daytime US hours (~8am – 6pm) with flexibility to work outside of these hours as necessary. Primarily office-based in NYC with some remote flexibility.

  • base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
