Editor/Reporter

The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Va., is seeking an editor/reporter to work on the news desk. As an editor, this person will edit news and features content, prepare page plans, write headlines, proof pages, and collaborate with company page designers. This editor will also field community news submissions and manage various event calendars. As a reporter, the primary focus will be local business news, openings, and closings, with occasional general assignments.

The base shift for this position is Sundays through Thursdays, 1 to 9:30 p.m. The successful candidate will be well-versed in AP style, understand media law, online media readership, and be confident in maximizing SEO. A minimum of two years of daily news experience is required. EOE
