Physics World is looking for an Editor-in-Chief for the new open access journal, Medical Sensors & Imaging, launching in 2026. This role involves shaping the journal's direction, building its editorial board, and advocating for impactful research at the intersection of physics and biomedical sciences.
The Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP) and Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) are excited to announce an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Editor-in-Chief to lead the launch of our new open access journal,Medical Sensors & Imaging. We are looking for a visionary leader with a deep passion for innovative research at the intersection of physics and biomedical sciences. The ideal candidate will be driven to propel the journal forward, ensuring the publication of high-quality, impactful research.
MSI will be dedicated to advancing personalized health through cutting-edge research at the intersection of physics and biomedical sciences. MSI will focus on the convergence of traditional medical physics disciplines with emerging fields such as quantum technologies, machine learning, and personalized healthcare, particularly as they pertain to medical sensors and imaging.
As the Editor-in-Chief, you will serve as the journal's scientific advisor, providing valuable community insights and acting as a strong advocate for the journal. You will play a pivotal role in defining and building the scope of the journal, enhancing its status and visibility within the scientific community.
About the Role
As Editor-in-Chief, you will collaborate with the IOPP journal team to launchMedical Sensors & Imagingby shaping its scope and setting its strategic direction to ensure significant impact within the global physics and biomedical sciences community. Working closely with the IOPP Publisher, you will help create and lead the Editorial Board, identifying key areas for growth, implementing editorial initiatives, and achieving the journal's aims.
The role will start August 1st 2025. The journal will be open for submissions in October 2025, the first issue will be published Q2 2026.
