Job summary

Howard University seeks an Executive Director of Editorial Services to lead the university’s editorial vision, content strategy, and publication planning. As Editor-in-Chief, you will guide flagship print and digital publications, ensure editorial excellence, and elevate the university’s national and international profile.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Publications or Marketing.
• Master's degree and experience in higher education communications preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 10 years in strategic communications, editorial leadership, and publishing.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide editorial strategy aligned with the University's priorities and branding.
• Oversee planning, writing, editing, and publication of print and digital publications.
• Develop multimedia storytelling across print, web, video, and social platforms.
• Maintain editorial governance, standards, accessibility, and inclusive language.
• Lead collaboration with senior leadership, faculty, and partners.
• Manage budgets, vendor contracts, and production schedules.
• Provide mentorship and performance guidance to editorial staff.
