TelevisaUnivision in Houston is seeking an experienced Editor for the News team to edit daily news, breaking reports, and special segments using non-linear editing systems. You will coordinate with producers, control room, and reporters to ensure flawless on-air delivery.

The ideal candidate has a BA in Broadcast Communications, at least 2 years editing experience, expert knowledge of Avid Media Composer and I-News rundown, and bilingual English/Spanish communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communications or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in video editing.
• Expert knowledge of Avid Media Composer and I-News rundown.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Edit daily news stories and breaking news using non-linear editing systems.
• Coordinate with producers and control room to ensure on-air delivery.
• Find content on feeds and edit scripts accordingly.
• Collaborate with reporters and producers to align edits with scripts.
• Source archive video content and consolidate footage for airtime.
• Fulfill requests from other departments and affiliates.
• Manage timely delivery and meet deadlines; provide production ideas.
• Work shifts including weekends and holidays as needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

TelevisaUnivision in Houston is seeking an experienced Editor for the News team. You will edit various video formats, coordinate with producers and control room, and ensure flawless on-air delivery.

YOUR DAY-DAY:

• Edit daily news stories, breaking news, special reports as assigned using non-linear, computer-based editing equipment.

• Work closely with the Content Management and Engineering team on any technical incidents. Report, track, and follow up until incident is resolved.

• Find content on feeds to properly edit the script.

• Work closely with reporters and producers to edit materials to match the scripts and provide suggestions on the production of the story.

• Search for proper archive videos to edit story and consolidate all videos for archive after shows.

• Fulfill requests from other departments and/or affiliates

• Work efficiently and in a timely manner to ensure all videos go on air on time.

• Provide creative ideas for continuous improvement.

• May be required to work various shifts and times, including weekends and holidays.

YOU HAVE:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Broadcast Communications.

• At least 2 years of experience in video editing.

• Expert knowledge of Avid Media Composer and I-news rundown.

• Bilingual in English/Spanish communication both written and oral.
