2017/2018 Teacher, Music/ Marching Band Director

Edison High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Marching Band Director who can collaborate with a diverse population of parents and students. The Edison Golden Brigade has been an award-winning and highly competitive marching band, and we are looking for an individual who can carry on the rich traditions of Edison High School. This position requires the ability to teach and coach music to students with a wide range of skill levels, as well as organize and coordinate events and competitions with parents and students.

Minimum Qualifications

• Credential authorizing instruction of music at the elementary and/or secondary level
• Two years of instrumental music instruction at the appropriate level
• Must have English Learner Authorization and be NCLB compliant

Knowledge And Abilities

Knowledge of and ability to implement the subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts related to the duties and responsibilities listed in this job description.

Secondary Music Teacher

In addition to the above, secondary music teachers will need to:

• Understand and be able to develop all aspects of a successful program
• Effectively fundraise, following district and legal guidelines
• Work with and support other groups and sports on campus
• Be a team player and participate in school activities with students in your program
• Maintain positive relationships with the music community
• Be prepared to have ensembles perform at district and community events, which may occasionally occur on Saturdays and Sundays
• Have high expectations for yourself and your students and know how to reach them
