Edison High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Marching Band Director who can collaborate with a diverse population of parents and students. The Edison Golden Brigade has been an award-winning and highly competitive marching band, and we are looking for someone to carry on these rich traditions. The position involves teaching and coaching music to students of varying skill levels, as well as organizing and coordinating events and competitions with parents and students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Credential authorizing instruction of music at elementary and/or secondary levels
• Two years of instrumental music instruction at the appropriate level
• Must have English Learner Authorization and be NCLB compliant

Effective July 1, 2025, AB 2345 requires that any person hired on certain permits or credentials must have CPR certification meeting American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of and ability to implement subject matter, philosophical, social, and educational concepts related to the duties of this role.

SECONDARY MUSIC TEACHER ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Develop and understand all aspects of a successful program
• Fundraise following district and legal guidelines
• Collaborate with other groups and sports teams on campus
• Participate in school activities with students
• Maintain positive relationships within the music community
• Prepare ensembles for performances at district and community events, occasionally on weekends
• Set high expectations for self and students and work to meet them
