Homestead Design Collective in Lafayette, CA is seeking an Edible Maintenance Gardener for up to 30 hours per week. The role involves planting, maintaining edible gardens, irrigation checks, and client communication. Office based in Lafayette with Bay Area clients.

Pay is $24/hr. Benefits include an insurance stipend for 30+ hrs/week and sick leave accrual. Workdays are varied across Bay Area locations, requiring reliable transportation and a can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of organic farming or gardening experience.
• Experience with ornamental plants and flower arranging is a plus.
• Familiarity with drip and micro-spray irrigation and timers is a plus.
• Familiarity with basic landscaping tools and equipment.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs and perform outdoor work.
• Proficient English reading, writing, and speaking.
• Access to computer and internet; smartphone with internet access.

Responsibilities

• Basic yard maintenance including cleanup, deadheading, cultivation, and pruning.
• Seed, plant, and harvest annual vegetables and perennial herbs.
• Test and adjust irrigation systems and make minor repairs.
• Identify common pests and use organic pest management controls.
• Record detailed notes and send personalized emails to clients with photos.
• Update internal documents and records; assist on projects.
• Collaborate with Lead Edible Gardener and other staff on various projects.
• Build friendly, professional relationships with clients.
