Job description

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCPM, you will play a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. CO+I focuses on the development of its employees through trainings, growth opportunities, Career Rotation Programs, Diversity & Inclusion events, and professional certifications.

Our infrastructure includes over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers globally. Our foundation supports services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses across over 90 countries.

Edge Site Operations manages colocated facilities worldwide, ensuring low latency and reliable connectivity for Microsoft Cloud Services. The DCPM acts as the primary contact for all site operations issues and escalations, managing datacenter operations throughout their lifecycle, working closely with partners and vendors to deliver excellent service, and representing Microsoft on-site regarding policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

As an Edge Site Operations DCPM, your success will be measured by:

  1. Collaborating with partner teams supporting contracting, deployment, finance, engineering, security, design, build, and compliance for seamless site operations.
  2. Building and maintaining relationships with facility landlords, IT service providers, and support teams.
  3. Planning and monitoring physical infrastructure resources to ensure capacity needs are met.
  4. Overseeing IT maintenance activities across the datacenter.
  5. Serving as the main contact for major incidents and leading their resolution.
  6. Implementing security, assurance, disaster recovery, and compliance policies for datacenter operations.
  7. Contributing to regional and global improvement initiatives.
  8. Managing budgets, vendor resources, and ensuring accurate datacenter data records.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent + 2+ years supporting IT equipment or large-scale deployment projects, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years in physical IT or critical environment operations.
  • Flexibility to work non-core hours as needed.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass Microsoft and security background checks.

Preferred:

  • College degree, certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Network).
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines and international travel.
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of WAN topologies, infrastructure cabling, optical systems, and project management.
  • Understanding of audit, compliance, and financial management.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Data Center Operations Management IC3 - The typical base pay range in the U.S. is USD $81,400 - $161,800 per year, with higher ranges in certain locations like San Francisco and New York City.
