Job summary

Laminar, Inc. in Boston seeks a driven Software Engineer, Edge Platform to build the Linux-based edge infrastructure powering Laminar’s production system. You will work with a Senior Edge Platform Engineer to automate setup and deployment on edge devices and factory servers.

You’ll apply Linux, scripting, and programming skills in Python, C++, Rust, or Go, with interest in industrial connectivity and edge AI. Join a fast-growing startup with equity and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux experience including command line, permissions, services and logs.
• Proficient in Python, C++, Go, or Rust; familiarity with shell scripting.
• Understanding networking basics: IP, DNS, ports, TCP/IP.
• Experience with Git and testing/debugging discipline.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in CS, EE, or related field; equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Linux services, scripts, and tools for the edge platform.
• Automate setup and configuration of edge devices and factory servers.
• Support packaging, testing, and deployment of applications using containers and VMs.
• Implement and test industrial connectors and protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet, OPC UA, CC-Link, EtherNet/IP).
• Improve platform reliability with updates, logging, monitoring, and recovery capabilities.
• Investigate failures, diagnostics, and performance, and develop reliability tests.
• Assist in Edge AI integration and ML inference workloads on edge hardware.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver features and resolve platform issues.
• Maintain clear setup instructions and technical docs.
